Following Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, the disciples that were fishermen, went back to their boats. They had been out all night and caught few if any fish. Jesus advised the occupants of the boat to toss a net over the other side of the boat. The men then hauled in 153 fish.
Before Jesus was crucified, Peter denied Jesus three times. Upon seeing Jesus on the shore from his boat, dived in and swam for the shore.
Jesus asked Peter three times if he loves Him. Each time Peter tried to assure Jesus that he does indeed love Him.
It is a great reminder to us that God will invite us into communion with Him and if necessary, He will come to meet us where we are and build from there.
Once Jesus had reconfirmed Pater's love and commitment, he asked Peter to feed his sheep and so our church was born. Peter was the first leader of the church and today, Pope Fancis continues his work.
How deep is your love for Jesus? Are you still at a mates level or is your love for our Lord unconditional?
